“Fad diet” is a diet that is popular for a time, similar to fads in fashion. Fad diets usually promise rapid weight loss or other health advantages, such as longer life. They are often promoted as requiring little effort and producing a “quick fix”.

While there are pro and cons of each one of the following plans ,according to some  experts including Rosemary Stanton ,you should be aware that not all diets suit all people and can cause other health issues.

My friend has been advised by her GP to follow the Keto diet due to her own specific health issues, meaning just because it claims weight loss, does not necessary mean its going to suit your particular genetic make up.

I am not a fan of fad diets, in fact I am not a fan of the word diet. I have maintained the same size clothes(8) and the same weight for 4 years by following a lifestyle.

My 9 top tips are

  • Eat when you are hungry
  • Listen to your body and avoid overeating
  • Enjoy your food
  • Exercise everyday (even if sometimes its a 20 min walk)
  • Include weights in your workouts
  • Don’t forget your core!
  • Aim to eat vegetables at each meal
  • The less processed food you have the better
  • If you slip up move on!
